SMS PTSA General Meeting
October 24, 2011

Present: Tina Townsend, Chantal Leblanc, Sarah Burns and Kendy Sasaki-Ross

Old Business:
- Minutes from the Annual General Meeting on September 28th/11 were reviewed.
2. Pledge Drive:
-envelopes should have been handed out on Friday, 24th. Not every child has come home with one.
-PTSA will follow up with the school regarding distribution of Pledge Drive envelopes.
-first turn in will be this Friday. Chantal, Sarah and Lulu will be available at lunch time to receive donations.
3. Dance:
-dance set for November 10th.
-Sarah Burns is chairing the dance. Committee met tonight from 6-7pm. Great ideas were shared, and there are a lot of volunteers helping to make it a success.
4. Book Fair:
-Book Fair is set for October 31st to November 4th.
-Sarah Burns is still looking for volunteers.
-all proceeds go back into the library
-Sarah, Tina, Lulu and Kendy will set up the book fair on October 28th in preparation for the 31st.
New Business:
1. Training:
-Tina attended the President and Principal training at Chief Kanim.
-some of the issues discussed were communication and math curriculum.
2. Husky Tickets:
-as requested by a PTSA member, Kendy Sasaki-Ross contacted the Husky Stars ticket PR person. Once the spring events are scheduled, UW will email the PTSA and find out who may be interested in receiving free tickets.
3. Budget:
-Chantal submitted an updated monthly budget. This was reviewed by the Board. (Attached with hard copy of minutes in the secretary’s binder)
-taxes were filed 2 weeks ago.
-insurance was bought for the 2011-2012 school year.
4. Reflections Program:
-PTSA will be sponsoring the Reflections Program headed by Sue Korol.
